In late January of 2017, a group of high school students from Jefferson County Open School traveled to the island of Ometepe to immerse themselves in the culture and language while building a community center and creating connections in the village of El Congo. Here, students stayed in home stays, got down in the dirt, and ended everyday in the lake with the local kids. Never were they tourists. In actuality, most of them found a home away from home. A home of pure, unwavering love and a home of pure simplicity.
¡Somos jóvenes y salvajes! ¡Salud!
